On a searing Saturday morning, several Spear students, past and present, attended Tullow Oil’s Five-a-Side football tournament. The students were very aware that they represented the youthful end of the player base and were determined not to betray any signs of anxiety!
The Spear Football Heroes united with two players from Tullow in an attempt to bolster their attacking firepower. This proved effective in their debut game as two goals were scored in a hard earned final draw.
The second and third games saw the team’s structure and communication skills tested to their very limit and the 3-0, 6-0 results did not reflect the Spear team’s efforts. However, brilliant teamwork and youthful energy in the final game resulted in the Spear Football Heroes winning convincingly!
Well done to the Spear Football Heroes and a massive thank you to Tullow Oil for organising the tournament and raising £1200 for Spear. Further thanks must go to all the teams who turned up and injected such passion into the event which made the day incredibly enjoyable.
