2011 is proving to be an exciting year at Spear. Having launched the Shepherds Bush centre in January, we are now delighted to announce the launch of our fourth Spear centre which opened in North Fulham in May. This means that the number of Spear places each year in West London has now doubled to 360 – a significant leap for the team. We enrolled 15 students on the course and three students had got jobs by week 5.
The team also had its first foray into the media world as Jo Rice appeared on Channel 4′s satirical comedy show Ten O’Clock Live in April. Jo was interviewed by comedian David Mitchell as part of a panel on social mobility.
Our recruitment service, SpearHead, is also going from strength to strength and so far enjoys a 100% retention rate amongst its placements.
Sadly this month we will wave goodbye to Jan Truesdale who is moving to Germany with her husband Veit. Jan has been an invaluable member of the team for five and a half years having joined the team as its third member. She leaves behind the team of 20 she has built up and will be sorely missed by us all.
